RADIO-RECORDING as subversion, art , code-messaging and social engineering - and How PODCAST gave us choice - the price was tracking and profiling Feedback

Radio is the original massmedia. It start with Nicola Tesla, who made a patent, then Marconi, but its two Danes, Valdemar Poulsen and P.O. Pedersen that first hit the airwaves 1902. Since then broadcast radio has been a constant – and still is in cars and in developing countries. In the western world BROADCAST radio is feeling the heat from millions of podcasts, this decentralizes the information flow and expands choices but also enforces tracking and datamining on the listeners. During the cold war, Short Wave Radio was key to contacting secred agents embedded abroad - all the agent needed was a radioreciever and a codebook.

Recently the BBC-worldservice has reignited their shortwave broadscast into the Ukraine, because of Russians blocking western websites.

Anders Kjærulff is a Danish(radio) journalist, who has lived on-air for 25 years and on the internet since 1994. In this keynote, he will tell the story of radio and give his opinion on the future of the airwaves. This years Bornhack might also be the slow birth of BORNHACK RADIO – this year as a podcast – in the future – who knows? PS: Dont miss the workshop on Friday!
