If you participate in any kind of community, you will at some point encounter conflicts. Resolving those among diverse individuals with strong personalities and an anti-authoritarian disposition poses some very specific challenges. We can usually agree on the baseline of behavior in form of a code of conduct. There are a variety of examples to fall back on how to write such a document, but there is not really a lot of available frameworks on how to enforce it.
I believe that many of our participants have experiences with a variety of autonomous spaces and different approaches. This workshop is meant to be a space to compare notes on how to handle conflict and explore whether it is possible to create some kind of framework to guide us in handling conflicts and CoC violations. I would be thrilled to hear from people what has worked for them and what did not, to help us all empowering our communities in staying and becoming safe, diverse and inclusive spaces, that address interpersonal challenges with the same creativity and tenacity hackers throw at practical challenges.
