Digijeunes Travel Grants for BornHack 2026 2026-03-15

BornHack has been approached by the French NGO Digijeunes with a generous offer of travel grants to cover travel expenses for some BornHack 2026 participants travelling from the EU.

Digijeunes is offering up to 18 travel grants, each amounting to €150, for participants and volunteers attending BornHack in July 2026.

These grants are made possible through a program funded by the European Commission, which aims to encourage exchanges between individuals from different European countries, with a focus on non-formal education and, more specifically, digital transformation. Digijeunes has chosen BornHack for this purpose.

A total of 18 travel grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note that the deadline to complete the form to request an individual tavel grant is May 15th, 2026 - two months from now. Digijeunes will be getting in touch with individuals as they apply.

Interested individuals can apply by completing this online application form.

Please note that several requirements need to be fulfilled in order to benefit from the individual travel grant, as Digijeunes needs to report each travel grant to the European Commission.

  1. Participants must take part in the full event, from July 15th to July 22nd, 2026.

  2. Participants must sign an attendance sheet, including details of their travel itinerary (date of departure, place of departure, etc.), as well as their name and surname. This attendance sheet will be kept by Digijeunes and will be shared with the European Commission only upon request, for example in the event of an audit.

  3. Participants must provide personal details, including: name and surname, email address, date of birth. This information is required to register participants in the European Commission’s Beneficiary Module and will therefore be shared with the European Commission. As a result of encoding this data, each person benefiting from a travel grant will automatically receive a survey requesting feedback, for example on what they have learned during the event and how this learning may impact their professional or educational path. Completing the survey shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. All personal details will be collected via a shared spreadsheet hosted on Digijeunes nextcloud.

  4. Participants must save all travel documents (train tickets, boarding passes, etc.) and provide copies to Digijeunes. These documents will be stored electronically in Digijeunes nextcloud for a period of five years. Digijeunes will pay out the travel grant by bank transfer after the end of the event.

  5. Photos will be taken during the event featuring participants who have benefited from the travel grant. If a participant does not wish to appear in photos, this can be avoided by informing Digijeunes in advance. Photos from the event may be published on Digijeunes website, social media channels, and shared with the European Commission only upon request. The BornHack photo policy and Code of Conduct will of course be respected.

BornHack can not help with questions about the travel grants, please contact Digijeunes directly with any concerns. We hope that the travel grants can help some hackers with tight budgets attend BornHack 2026!
