Back in June 2025 I published Path to Digital Sovereignty v1 as a discussion draft on Codeberg (https://codeberg.org/Reventlow/path-to-digital-sovereignty) and shared a short explainer on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7328117589807648768/). The response was immediate and wide‑ranging: policymakers, sysadmins, and open‑source advocates weighed in with critiques, success stories, and hard questions about how to move from vision to action.
Out of that dialogue a small working group emerged—bringing together Ylva Lisesdatter (frihoej.dk), with experience in strategic change and public sector transformation; Henrik Kramselund (Zencurity.com), a veteran in internet security and encryption; and Alex Holst (Zencurity.com), known for his work in governance and security training and together we shaped version 2: a field guide aimed squarely at decision‑makers who need an implementation plan rather than another manifesto.
The talk blends technical decisions, risk assessment, change management, HR considerations, return on investment (ROI), governance, and more, offering a clear path toward resilient, transparent, and ethically grounded infrastructure. It’s not about perfection—it’s about direction, and the courage to start.
