You will get your hands dirty, opening modern smart phones or tablets and repairing them by switching out broken screens/batteries/etc using diy tools and tutorials from places such as https://ifixit.com. Maybe you'll even get to putting it back together!
You will have access to the tools needed but should bring your own broken phone or tablet to work on, as well as replacement parts if you want to finish the repairs during the workshop (or the camp =). I'll bring a few broken things that you could tear down as an emergency fallback.
Make sure you get any adhesive you may need if your replacement battery or back cover doesn't come with fresh adhesive already on it. These are available in prepared sheets by phone model with peel away plastic. Like this: https://gatech.co.nz/product/samsung-galaxy-s22-replacement-back-cover-adhesive/
The basic toolkits that I will bring contain one set per two participants of the following:
- essential electronics toolkit: https://www.ifixit.com/en-eu/products/essential-electronics-toolkit
- iopener: https://www.ifixit.com/en-eu/products/iopener?variant=31962085621841
- antistatic mat with wristbands
They will be available to purchase after the workshop is over.
