Chip designer for the last 25 years around startups and big corp like Nokia, Ericsson, Silicide (startup), Oticon, Merus Audio, and Infineon.
For the ast 3 years I have been part of a sound and growing community that also believes we need to reboot the way we do chip design.
I do electronics consulting for early startups and more and more of my jobs are chip related and are done using open-source tools and PDKs.
I talk EU chip act when even I get a chance and remind people that chip design still will be our main technology driver for the next 20 years.

For the last 3 years Google has pushed to enable open-source tools and PDK - Today we have 3 fully Open-source PDKs (Process development kits) for 180nm, 130nm and 90nm in the making. More than 500 chips have been designed and are public available on Efabless repos. All paid by Google and US chip act money.
I have been a part of this growing community over the last couple of years - We have yearly conferences and the open-source nature of what we do, has fostered a lot of innovation i… Read more

Tiny Tapeout is a setup where Matt Ween and his team divide an MPW run on the Skywater 130 nm open source process into smaller slots.
The program target university students and hobbyist but also is a great opportunity for software people to get involved with the open-source chip design ecosystem that is just in its very early days.
A slot on the Tiny Tapeout is around 150x100 mm2 and will have space for around 150 registers and some custom logic - we have 8 input pins, 8 output… Read more
