xed techniques: screen printing solder paste\, hotplate reflowing\, manual
SMD soldering and various tricks.\n\nAccording to some SMDs are tiny (the
y blow away when you sneeze)\, hard to handle (you can barely see them) an
d hard to solder (you can barely see them and the tip of a soldering iron
is larger than the component). In this workshop you will gain some experie
nce working with SMD components\, and discover that it can be much faster
 than manual through-hole component soldering. \n\nSo far\, more than 300 p
eople have attended previous versions of this workshop\, and ALL went hom
e with a working project (though occasionally a little rework was required
) \n\nOn one side of the PCB you will use screen printing to spread just t
he right amount of solder paste right where it is needed\, use tweezers to
place the components onto the thus primed PCB and finally a hotplate to s
older all components in one go\, and. On the other side of the PCB you wil
l manually solder the remaining components. While doing this\, you will pi
ck up a few tricks to make SMD soldering more enjoyable\n\nYou'll make a u
seful trinket to wear around your neck\, that you can write your name on\,
with a microcontroller\, some LEDs and other components and IR receiver/t
ransmitter to communicate with other trinkets (and also previous workshops
' badges) around you at a cost of 13HAX for the materials\, including an A

 pectives-on-implementing-bornhack-as-a-text-adventure/\n\nSpeaker(s): Niel
 s and Troels from the FunHack village\n\nRecorded: Yes\n\nStreamed: Yes\n\
nThis year the FunHack village celebrates 10 years of BornHack by going ba
ck in time to the 1980s. Many things happened in this decade\, and one of
those things was that a software company by the name of Infocom released
popular games whose primary game mechanic was text: The player typed comma
nds\, which then printed interesting text\, prompting more commands to be
typed and more interesting text to be printed\, until the game ended or th
e player gave up because games were really hard back then.\n\nAs an exampl
e\, the "get laptop" part of the title of this talk is a representative ex
ample of a command that you could type in a game containing a laptop. Thi
s command would then make your virtual avatar pick up a laptop if one was
near.\n\nInfocom had a complicated game authoring pipeline involving a Lis
p programming language\, a virtual machine\, and many interpreters. This
is an inspiration to us all. A new 32-bit virtual machine from 1999\, ins
pired by the old virtual machine from the 1980s\, is used today by hobbyis
t text game writers to continue the tradition.\n\nOur primary focus in thi
s talk will be to present BORNHACK ADVENTURE\, a modern take on the classi
c text adventure\, taking place in a virtual version of the BornHack venue
.\n\nWe are writing our game in Inform 7\, a programming language where yo
u program in a subset of English. This language was originally released 1
9 years ago and targets the virtual machine from 26 years ago. It is not
based on Lisp\, but we were still able to understand how to use it.\n\nThi
s talk includes\, but is not limited to:\n\n - A short and opionated intr
oduction to Inform 7 where we talk about our experience as programmers usi
ng a programming language designed for non-programmers.\n - A discussion
of what tricks to use to keep up the illusion that the virtual BornHack is
the real deal.\n - Inspirations\, learnings\, and takeaways to carry ove
r into your professional lives.\n\nMost of all we want you to try our game
. We will make continual improvements throughout the BornHack event.

goes wrong and you're not the 1\,000th person to report it\, it's your pro
blem. Customer service? That's just a chatbot pretending to care.\n\nThis
talk is about what happens when the system isn't built for you — because
it never was. A mobile operator refused to sign a contract with me becaus
e they couldn't remove “I agree to receive ads.” My orders get randoml
y canceled because I refuse to have a phone number. My industry certificat
ions? Gone. Because I stood up for my privacy rights.\n\nWe'll go through
these experiences and dissect why things are this way. Why must we adapt t
o their systems\, but they won't adapt to ours? Why does a company's "offi
cial support channel" usually mean "no support at all"? Why do startups op
timize for growth at the cost of basic usability?\n\nThis isn't just a ran

. We'll discuss examples of where people have pushed back and won\, and wh

\nOpen Source Intelligence (OSINT) is a concept frequently used in a natio
nal security\, military or law enforcement context. This talk will explain
how it can be adapted to be useful for investigating anomalies in the Tor
network\, which is an anonymity network consisting of relays run by thous
ands of volunteers worldwide aiming to give back privacy on the Internet.
The network carries around 350 Gbit/s of traffic and helps between 2\,000\
,000 and 8\,000\,000 users daily. After giving a short introduction about
all things Tor we will go over both the recently developed framework for r
unning Tor network health open source investigations and potential anomali
es/unsolved mysteries we encountered in our day-to-day network-health work
. At the end of the talk interested parties should be able to start their
own network-health investigations contributing to a better understanding o
f the Tor network and increasing its resilience in the face of attacks.\n\

n hvor står det nu? Og kan det standses? \nOg hvad med børnene? For dem

\n\nA bottleshare is a social event where participants bring different bot

ers\, but the concept can also apply to other types of drinks like wine\,
cider\, or spirits.\n\nTasting Experience: The focus is on sampling and ex
periencing a variety of flavors and styles. It's an opportunity for attend
ees to try new and different beverages they might not find easily.\n\nShar

.\n\nSocial Interaction: These events are social by nature\, allowing peop

ions within their community.\n\nInformal or Formal: While many bottleshare
s are casual and spontaneous\, some can be more structured with specific t
hemes\, tasting notes\, or even competitions.\n\nServing Sizes: To ensure
everyone gets a taste of each beverage\, drinks are usually poured into sm
all tasting glasses.\n\nEtiquette: It is common practice to bring somethin

 -workshop/\n\nSpeaker(s): jagenau\n\nRecorded: No\n\nStreamed: No\n\nBring
all your own techniques and stuff to make and mod fab\, fun and practical
things to be worn\, or pick some up at the workshop.\nIt would be also ni
ce to get some clothes swapping going\, so bring your rejects if you have
the space in your luggage and think someone else might enjoy them. Of cour
se also bring clothes you might wanna modify and spice up for yourself\n\n
 I will bring\n \n- a plotter\, a bunch of heat transferable vinyls and a h
eat press\n- a handful of tulle skirts\n- and hopefully some LED strings a
nd controllers that can be sewn under said tulle skirts\n\nThe lights\, co
ntrollers and tulle skirts will be very limited\, even if I manage to get
a bunch\, so if you have a mind to try lighting up some of your clothes\,
I recommend that you get an addressable wsb2812ish fairy light (string lig
ht) and a controller yourself. If you are not keen on programming it yours
elf\, they are available with a bunch of preset programs\, that are usuall
y actually really nice. You can contact me in advance if you need help buy
ing something suitable :)\n\nJoin our [Signal Group](https://signal.group/

if you have any questions or want to co-host with your own crafts :) If y
ou do not have Signal you can reach out to me under sarah@bornhack.org - b
ut I would prefer to be contacted in other ways.\n\nWe welcome all yarn fo
lk to hang out\, knit\, crochet and whatever else stitch witches are up to
these days\, electron benders to hack on their wearable electronics and t
hrifty folks to show and exchange their latest conquests.\n\nI am fairly s
ure there will be people around to also help you mend and sew some stuff b
ut I cannot promise it on account of my own 2 left thumbs when it comes to
  any needlework.

 vement-for-digital-justice/\n\nSpeaker(s): Kritik Digital\n\nRecorded: Yes
 \n\nStreamed: Yes\n\nIn 2021\, we started Kritik Digital\, a volunteer-run
\, Copenhagen-based youth organization with the explicit mission of politi
cizing the digital world. In the past six months\, it has become obvious f
or most people that the digital *is* political\, and we think far too impo
rtant a field to be left solely to the experts. As tech touches everyone\,
we think more people should have the capacity to counter the power of the
tech elite and their hegemonic narratives. \n\nThat is why we think a mem
bership-based\, multidisciplinary organization is necessary for people to
have somewhere to go when they feel anxious and defenseless against the al
gorithms of big tech. Our collective antidote has been organizing digital
self-help cafés\, writing numerous newsletters and op-eds\, and hosting t
alks with tech-researchers and experts.\n\nWe also want to be a platform f
or democratic action\, which we've put to the test for the first time this
year. In the spring of 2025\, the Danish government proposed a bill to va
stly expand the surveillance capabilities of the security and intelligence
police (PET). The bill was initially intended to be hurried through the l
egislative process\, but following pressure from different political actor
s\, it was postponed till after the summer. Now we are at a pivotal moment
\, where we need to stop this bill from going through.\n\nIn Kritik Digita
l\, we have worked together with Cybernauterne\, among others\, to take a
stand against a reckless political establishment eager to waive any rights
to privacy in order to increase surveillance in a self-defeating fight ag
ainst terrorism. Thus far\, we've held a demonstration at Christiansborg b
ack in June\, and we're planning on making another one on the 20th of Sept
ember. We need to spread the word and mobilize more people\, but also: Wha
t's the backup plan if the bill goes through? \n\nWhat do we do if PET get
s the ability to put an entire population's digital personal data through
Palantir's magic black box? How can we put breaks on the government's futu
 re attempts at increasing surveillance?

Using only a soldering iron this *may* be possible\, but is unlikely to l

be MUCH slower.\n\nDo you know any tricks that allow you to break the 30 m
